Tata Projects Ltd is an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracting company. They are providing EPC services through seven business units namely power generation, transmission and distribution, industrial infrastructure, oil, gas and hydrocarbons, steel, railways and quality services.
Tata Projects Ltd was incorporated in the year 1979. Since then, the company is emerging as one of the leading companies to execute mega projects in power generation, transmission & distribution and other infrastructure sectors and are positioned as an efficient and trustworthy partner for implementation of developmental projects. The company is one among few construction companies in India having all three certifications of ISO 9001, 14001 & OHSAS 18001.
In August 2004, the company was awarded the project of turnkey execution of Modification of 400 kV DC Uri-Wagoora-Pampore Transmission Line package by the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. In September 2004, they bagged the order of Installation of 500 MW unit I Steam Generator at NTPC, Sipat TPP, Bilaspur from Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Chennai. In December 2004, they bagged prestigious EPC contract for the execution of 7680 cu m/day desalination plant from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) with an extended O&M period of five years. This was the first seawater desalination plant adopting multi-vapour compression technology in India.
In March 2005, the captive power plant of Hindustan Zinc Ltd at Chanderia in Rajasthan was commissioned. In August 2005, the company secured order from PGCIL for Design, Engineering, Manufacture, Factory Testing, Supply, Erection including associated Civil works, Testing & Commissioning of 400KV bay extension at Kishenpur Substation (J&K).
In September 2005, the company has been awarded installation of main plant package for Unit I of Sagardighi 2x300 MW Thermal Power Plant Project at Mushirabad, West Bengal from Dongfang Electric Corporation. In December 2005, the company has received an order from Uttaranchal Power Corporation Ltd for distribution lines and substation. Also, United Development Company Q S C, Doha, Qatar has awarded the design and construction of Primary Electrical Substations work to the company.
In March 2006, Tata Projects secured an order from ISRO, Sriharikota for design, preparation of drawings, Manufacture and erection, testing & commissioning of casting facility equipments. In April 2006, Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL), Jaipur have placed an order on Tata Projects for the EPC contract of BoP including complete civil works of their 1x125 MW Giral Lignite Thermal Power Project Unit 2, Stage II.
In June 2006, Tata Projects bagged their first Railway Project from Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd for gauge conversion of Metre Gauge Railway Line to Broad Gauge Line of Villupuram to Mayiladuthurai Section of Southern Railway. In February 2007, Conversion of 1500V DC OHE to 25000 V AC OHE in Karjat to Lonawala part of Kalyan to Pune section of Mumbai Division of Central Railway work has been awarded to the company.
The company entered into a joint venture agreement with Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Towaijiri & Partners Co, Riyadh and formed Al-Tawleed Engergy & Power Company for the execution of power, infrastructure and industrial projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In May 2007, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd has awarded the 400 kV Double Circuit Jamshedpur-Baripada Transmission Line and 400 kV Single Circuit Uri II-Wagoora Transmission Lines and Substation to the company. In November 2007, the company was awarded India's biggest BOP contract in the Power Sector.
Tata Projects has been awarded the ISO 14001 for Environmental Management System & OHSAS 18001 for Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System certifications by RWTUV in the year 2004. The company was rated amongst the Top Ten Most Admired Indian Construction Companies in 2007 by the readers of Construction World, a leading Construction Business Magazine with a wide professional readership in India, South Asia and the Gulf.
Tata Projects Ltd acquired a majority stake of 75% in Artson Engineering Ltd (AEL), in January 2008. Teil Projects Ltd was incorporated on July 15, 2008 as a joint venture between Tata Projects Ltd and Engineers India Ltd to undertake Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects in India and abroad mainly in oil & gas, fertilizer, steel, power and infrastructure sectors.
